I did it! I did my very first vendor event, and I chose a whopper of a show - Maple Valley Days. Our little city essentially shuts down, has a parade and a carnival and goes for broke! There's an estimated 10,000 - 15,000 attendees every year. It is so much fun to attend as a patron, but it was also fun to do as a vendor!
I collected many odds and ends for my display over the last few months, I really wasn't sure how it was going to all going to look, but I have to say - I was super happy with the way it came together! My wonderful friend and fellow local business owner supplied the stunning flowers for my booth. Flowers by Robin does beautiful arrangements - be sure to check her out for your flowers!!
I met so many great people and learned a lot about what people are interested in. Turns out bath bombs are a big deal! I made some Bath Fizzees and debuted them here at MVD and they were wildly successful. The bubble bath and combo cupcakes were also a hit. I even got a phone call the following week complimenting me on the bath bombs looking for more! She mentioned how great her skin felt and how wonderful the smell was. What a great testimony!
Some of my best selling soaps were the usual suspects, Oatmeal Milk and Honey, Clean Shaven and the new kid on the block, Pink Grapefruit Bellini. I also got a request for some custom Donut Soap as well as a nut-free alternative soap. (stay tuned for soap using avocado oil instead of almond oil for the nut-free users!)
This event was really a lot of fun. I gained some valuable insight and a greater appreciation for the folks manning their booths. It was exhausting! :)
Maple Valley Days 2017 is in the bag! I can't wait for next year.
