Ingredient Highlight: Mango Butter

Melissa Robinson

Mango Butter.  OH Mango Butter.  Quite possibly my favorite of the butters.  Mango butter is made from the big seed in the middle of the fruit, not the flesh itself, which is odd!   Gotta say though - I'm I'm thankful someone thought "I wonder what would happen if I sqeeze the shit out of this?"

Mango butter is a lot like shea butter - but it has a higher fatty acid profile, which makes it a more intensive moisturizer.  It’s rich in oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated omega-9 acid; and stearic acid, a saturated fatty acid. It's also rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin A - both of which skin looooooves.

Everyone knows that shea butter is moisturizing and feels awesome in products, but have you ever noticed that slight greasy feel left from shea?  Mango butter provides a lighter silky feel, obliterates dry skin and absorbs lightning fast.  It's considered a "dry oil" where it doesn't linger on your skin and leave an oil slick.

It is prominent in many of my products from my signature hand lotion, emulsified sugar scrub and even in my lip balms!  Mango butter is a little more spendy than others, but it is worth the extra cost for the result.  If you want to experience this skin marvel for yourself, give the Hand and Body lotion a try, Mango Butter teams up with Avocado oil and is the star of the show to keep you feeling moisturized and smooth.

Viva La Mango Butter!!
